Marina Mioč
Neurologist
Marina Mioč graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb in 2010. She started residency in neurology at the University Psychiatric Hospital Vrapče in December 2011 and completed it entirely at University Hospital Centre Zagreb.
As a 2017 European Neurological Society scholarship winner, she spent six weeks at the Sleep Research Laboratory, Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences, University of Bologna, Italy, where she was educated in polysomnographic diagnostics and all areas of sleep medicine, especially in central hypersomnias.
In April 2018, she passed the residency exam in neurology, and since then she has been working as a neurologist at the Institute for Psychophysiology and Organically Conditioned Mental Disorders, which includes the Center for Sleep and Wake Disorders, the first and largest center of its kind in this area.
In September 2020, she passed the somnologist exam at the European Society for Sleep Research.
Since September 2020, she has been in training in behavioral-cognitive therapy at the Croatian Association of Behavioral-Cognitive Therapists.
In October 2021, she completed a Masterclass course in cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia under the guidance of experts from Oxford, England.
In June 2023, she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled "The influence of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome on the macrostructure and microstructure of sleep and cardiovascular autonomic nervous function".
She is a member of the Croatian Neurological Society, a member of the Board of Directors of the Croatian Society for Apnea, a member of the Board of Directors of the Section for Sleep Disorders in Neurology at the Croatian Neurological Society, and a member of the European Society for Sleep Research.
She is the author of several scientific papers published in indexed journals in the field of somnology and neurology, and an active participant in several domestic and international symposia.
